Employment FACULTY FELLOW Religious Studies Program ARTS AND SCIENCE New York University

The Religious Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts and Science at New York University invites applications for an appointment as a Faculty Fellow. The appointment will be for one year beginning September 1, 2016, renewable annually for a maximum of three years, pending administrative and budgetary approval.

Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. no earlier than three years before the date of appointment, have a strong commitment to teaching and participating in the interdisciplinary Program’s activities. We seek applicants whose area of empirical research lies in East Asian or Tibetan Buddhism. The ideal candidate will combine a grasp of the “classical” sources and a serious engagement with the theoretical study of religion ; interest in intersections of religion with post-coloniality, race, gender, sexuality, or national identity is especially welcome. The candidate should be prepared to teach Theories and Methods in the Study of Religion, as well as two other courses, the nature of which will in part depend upon her/his qualifications.
