The Department of Chinese Studies, National University of Singapore, invites applications with specializations in the following areas :

  Position 1 : Late Imperial Chinese Literature especially in Chinese novels and/or literary criticism

  Position 2 : Modern Chinese History, Society and Culture (post-1949 China), including Popular Culture and/or Diaspora Studies

Successful and suitably qualified candidates will be appointed at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (tenure track) level commencing July 2016. They should possess native-speaking, or near native-speaking competence in both Chinese and English. The minimum academic qualification for the appointment is a doctoral degree. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses (in Chinese and English), and supervise graduate students. Candidates should have strong research training and potential. For appointment to Associate Professor and above, candidates must be able to demonstrate a track record of significant publications and successful teaching. Compensation at NUS is competitive and includes eligibility for annual salary increments, performance bonuses, subsidized housing, and other benefits, as well as generous research and conference travel support. Details of publications (including theses and dissertations) and sample of publications/writing (at least two for Assistant Professor level and five for Associate Professor and above) ; 4.
