Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in China Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences, to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The University offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate major in China Studies and seeks to hire an Assistant Professor to support this area. This is a joint appointment between the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, with a tenure home in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in any of the existing disciplines of the Faculty of Social Sciences, especially in anthropology, sociology, human geography and politics. The appointee should be an excellent researcher and be able to deliver high quality teaching at the undergraduate level in the domain of China Studies, from an interdisciplinary (humanities and social sciences) perspective. He/She will also be expected to share teaching duties with the Faculty of Arts ; coordinate and teach courses in the China Studies programme ; contribute to curriculum development of China Studies ; and foster academic collaboration locally, regionally and internationally. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
