The Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica welcomes applications for a full-time research position :

1.Ranks Available : Assistant Research Fellow, Associate Research Fellow or Research Fellow (Positions roughly correspond to assistant professor, associate professor, and professor at a U.S. university.)

2.Qualifications : Applicants must have a PhD or have defended by the application deadline. (Those who have yet to receive the diploma must provide proof of having passed the oral exam or of approval of the dissertation.)

3.Areas of Specialization : Taiwan Archaeology, Archaeology of South East Asia and Oceania, Archaeological Sciences, Environmental Archaeology

Academia Sinica in Taiwan is an all-research institution, and the successful applicant may devote all of his or her time to research and publications, and expect generous research support.

Applicants need not be able to publish in Chinese, but the ability to communicate in spoken Chinese is required.

NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for an open-ranked position in Global History, with a preference for a scholar whose interests focus on (a) one or more geographical areas other than China and (b) the pre-modern period. We seek a scholar with substantial publications, active research, and demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled.

The terms of employment are comparable to U.S. institutions. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. Tenure/tenure-track candidates may also serve as members of the NYU New York Department of History. The appointment will begin as soon as August 1, 2014, with a later start date possible pending candidate availability.
